 “I started looking down at the carpet of my house that was turning black…

Below lies the land, warm and red, the south. Over there is my island of Sicily, which is not far from Africa.

Above there is nothing more than the moon.

 I am still in Seville, which is not that far from Africa either.

I don’t have time to think about whether there is water on Mars; I don’t even think of spending the New Year on the moon.

I look down and think about my next trip to the African continent.

I invite you to lower your look, to look beyond painting and my works of art, descending towards a free and personal meaning without any mediation.”
