Biography
Luca Pantina was born in 1978 in Petralia Sottana (Palermo). In 2003 he won a scholarship at the University of Seville, where he attended an academic year at the Facultad de Bellas Artes. His work is generally based on spiritual, mystic, symbolic and allegorical themes. His painting is expressive, iconic and full of symbols, particularly dominated by intense dark colours. Attracted by new materials and technichs he is fascinated by wood, material that he choose for tridimentional works and xilography. Pantina has great interest in the new cultural and spiritual dimensions of our society and in the relation between image and writing. In 2005 he finished his studies at the Accademia di Belle Arti of Palermo with the thesis “Advertising posters and art”. He has partecipated to many projects and exibitions in Italy and Spain, but also in Portugal, Germany and Japan. Now he lives and works between Castellana Sicula (Palermo) and Seville, trying to connect the two artistic realities.
